ABOUT US

My name is Rachel, and I have a strong passion for art and working with children, which has driven me to spend over 9 years as an educator, trainer, and assessor. Currently, I also work part-time as an art teacher at Leap Start Early Learning Jandakot, where I continue to inspire and guide young artists.
The best part of my job is seeing children grow into confident, creative individuals. I love encouraging persistence and helping them realize their potential, ultimately shaping them into the global citizens of tomorrow.
My favourite quote is: "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."
I truly believe in the value of learning and growth, both in art and in life.
Our Philosophy
We believe that art is more than a finished product. It is a journey of exploration, expression, and growth.
That’s why process art is at the heart of everything we do. Children are encouraged to experiment, take risks, and find joy in the act of creating, rather than focusing only on the outcome. We recognise that every child learns differently, shaped by their own life experiences, perspectives, and ways of seeing the world.
By acknowledging these unique learning styles, we create a space where all children feel confident to express themselves authentically. We also believe that children learn best in a flow state – the sweet spot between their comfort zone and growth/learning zone. This is where creativity thrives: when children feel safe to try new things, but also stretched enough to discover their potential.
Our approach weaves in art theories and techniques through the children's topics of interest. Whether it’s dinosaurs, anime characters, or nature, we guide children to build skills while exploring what excites them most. This makes learning both meaningful and personal, sparking curiosity that extends far beyond the studio. At Paper & Palette, there is no right or wrong way to create art, it’s about empowering young creators to discover their own voice and celebrate their individuality.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS
Home Studio
With a maximum of four children per class, we provide the personal guidance and support each young artist needs to thrive.
Instead of a traditional classroom setup, we sit on zaisu chairs
(floor chairs with back support) that promote good posture, strengthen core muscles, and encourage mindfulness. Sitting closer to the ground also allows children to see things from a fresh perspective, fostering curiosity and new ways of observing the world around them.

Treeby Community and Sports Centre
With a maximum of ten children per class, our Treeby space offer a more social and collaborative learning experience.
Set in a bright and spacious environment, children have room to spread out, explore larger projects, and be inspired by the creativity of their peers. The bigger group setting encourages teamwork, idea-sharing, and building friendships, while still ensuring every child receives the guidance and encouragement they need.
Ai Ne Crystal & Jewellery
With a maximum of ten children per class, our sessions at Aine Crystal & Jewellery offer a vibrant and collaborative learning experience.
Held in a welcoming co-space shared with the crystal store, the setting is both inspiring and unique. The group environment encourages teamwork, idea-sharing, and friendships, while still ensuring each child receives the individual guidance and encouragement they need to flourish.
